I am passionate, funny, and loyal. I aid in the preschool and after school care programs at Neilson Grove and Brooke elementary. My qualifications include: Assistant ECE certificate and I’m on my way to obtaining my degree in ECE.
A little bit about me
I’ve lived in the lower mainland my entire life. I reside with my best mate of 17 years (Jamie) and I’m close with my dad and younger brother, Jared. I love traveling, being around friends/ family, reading, and playing volleyball. I’m fairly new to the child care field but I love almost every minute of it!
Me and Childcare
My field of interest has changed many times over the years, but I’ve never strayed from working with children. Working at Neilson Grove/Brooke has allowed me to work with children aged three to twelve. I’m completely thankful for the diversity- there is never a dull moment! The children I’ve met here possess brilliant imaginations, and the most entertaining conversations! My favourite thing to do is to take everyone outside and play some kind of game. It’s amazing how fast they band together as a team to achieve a similar goal, as well as how much they open up to you when they’re having a blast.
The Reggio philosophy facilitates enjoyable learning. It allows the children to feel comfortable enough so that they push themselves to accomplish great things- as individuals, and as peers. I’ve seen firsthand the children working on separate projects, yet coming together to help a friend in need. The Reggio approach gives these children the freedom to learn at their own pace. In return they absorb so much by asking the questions they want to ask and working on tasks that allow them to venture
into their own minds, thereby learning more about themselves/the world around them.
Conclusion
I love working at Bright Eyes because of my amazing co-workers and the wonderful children. Children learn through everything they hear, touch and see and I’m proud to be part of an environment where they are able to do exactly that at their own individual speed.
Cheers!
